4th Winter Games, February 19 - 21, 2009, in Montreux and Vevey, Switzerland

It has been 10 years since the last ICG Winter Children's Games were held in Maribor Slovenia. Montreux and Vevey, two neighboring cities in Switzerland, took upon themselves the hard task of again organizing and re-launching Winter Children's Games. Members of ICG were all confident that organizing of the Games was entrusted to the right people we had great expectations. 40 cities from all around the world - Australia, Canada, USA, Korea, China and even Kenya, just to mention the furthest countries - brought over 500 young athletes to compete in six different sports.

Accommodations and sports venues as well as execution of the Games were flawless. All of that combined with the scenery of a beautiful lake surrounded with high mountains made it an unforgettable experience for all. To make a long story short, the Games were expectedly performed precisely as a Swiss watch. In addition to excellent sports competitions, the Games organizers presented their cities and country to children from all around the world in the best way, providing memories we would surely want to re-experience again.

Thank you to all involved in organizing the 4th Winter Children Games. You did a great job. Hopefully the initiative demonstrated by Montreux-Vevey will institute more frequent hosting of the Winter Games and encourage more cities to continue this tradition.
