At the 2015 World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, Russia former ICG participant Marco Koch from Darmstadt / Germany won the gold medal in the men's 200-metre breaststroke, becoming the first German to claim a championship title in that event.

His international swimming career started in the Cleveland International Children's Games 2004 in the United States. Together with his coach Alexander Kreisel Marco has been very successful over the years. He was a medal winner in swimming in the Coventry International Children's Games 2005, European Champion in 2013, Vice World Champion in 2014.

With the latest title of a World ChampionMarco Koch once more gave proof of his talent as a breaststroke specialist and he is now preparing for the Olympic Games Rio de Janeiro 2016.

The Committee of the International Children's Games wishes to congratulate Marco Koch on his great and wonderful success. It also gives evidence once more of the importance of youth sports events like the International Children's Games as one of the stepstones to the biggest sporting event on the planet - the Olympic Games.
