Dear friends and ICG family,
the Executive Committee of the International Children’s Games hopes that all of you stay safe and healthy in these challenging and uncomfortable pandemic times!
As you all know the Executive Committee of the International Children’s Games has been looking forward very much to welcoming the world at the 54th International Children's Games in Kecskemét, Hungary this summer from 30th of June to 5th of July 2020.
By the end of the registration period 108 cities had confirmed their participation, an enormous number that ICG is very proud of!
But this great event - like so many others - had to be cancelled as Hungarian Government and Kecskemét City Operational Body would not want to put any athlete, coach, or city representative under danger of getting infected with the coronavirus. A very reasonable and truly inevitable decission, still a sad one for everybody who had already prepared to go to Hungary!We are now looking to the future and are hoping to celebrate International Children's Winter Games in the Olympic region of Pyeongchang, Republic of Korea which are planned to take place from 19th to 24th of February 2021.
The Winter Games will include the sports of Alpine Skiing, Freestyle Skiing, Cross-Country Skiing, Snowboard, Biathlon, Ice Hockey, Figure Skating and Short Track.
2021 shall also see International Children's Summer Games in the Republic of Korea. The city of Daegu has been a host for the Games in 2012 and is ready to host the Games again. ICG Executive Committee is absolutely sure that both events in South Korea will be really amazing and outstanding. Please register for these Games if you haven't done so yet!Let us all hope and work together for the end of this worldwide pandemic crisis and for another chance to meet all very soon again!
